Fernando Pereira, violin
PERMANENT PROFESSOR
Doctor in Music and since 2011 a Professor at Escola de Música of UFRJ, Fernando Pereira started his studies at this institution in the class of Nathercia Teixeira. At the age of 18, he moved to Paris, where he graduated in higher education courses at the Chatillon Conservatory, under Professor Marie-Joëlle Battisti; at the Jacques Ibert Conservatory, under Professor Philippe Coutelen; and at the École Régionale de Musique Edgar Varèse, under the guidance of Ami Flammer. During that period, he also graduated in Music at Université Paris IV - Sorbonne. Professionally, he was part of the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira between the years 2001 and 2008 and today he is a member of the Orquestra Petrobras Sinfônica, with which he recently performed as a soloist in concerts at Cidade das Artes. As a chamber musician, he is the founder of Quarteto Uirapuru, with which he held concerts and master classes in Brazil and Latin America. Fernando actively participates in various chamber formations, having appeared as a guest artist with the group Magisterra Soloists, performing in recital with violinist Annette-Barbara Vogel at Von Kuster Hall, Canada. Fernando is currently Head of the Basic and Intermediate courses of the Musicalization Extension Project, and of the Bachelor's courses of the String Instruments Department at Escola de Música of UFRJ.
