ACADEMY DESCRIPTION
Age: 18+ (recommended: university level, very advanced High School students encouraged to apply)
any advanced student with aspirations in a career in performance is welcome to audition!
Artistic director Annette-Barbara Vogel invites a selected group of emerging professionals to participate in an intensive week-long program of training geared towards professional orchestral playing.
Invited participants will perform in daily orchestral excerpt masterclasses led by a roster of principal players from several major North American orchestras. At the end of the week participants will perform a mock audition and will receive feedback to their presentation.
Intensive daily chamber orchestra rehearsals led by Professor Vogel alongside established professional artists will culminate in a final celebratory concert on Sunday, July 24th, 2022 at Museum London.
This program is designed to provide emerging professional string players with an in-depth look into how to effectively prepare for the highly competitive field of orchestra auditions.
ACADEMY ACTIVITIES:
– daily masterclasses on orchestra excerpts with renowned concertmasters and principals of North American orchestras
– daily rehearsals of string chamber orchestra repertoire
– mock orchestra audition
– celebratory final concert at Museum London
– lunches catered Monday-Friday by Growing Chefs (locally sourced organic meals)

FINAL RECITAL

This recital will showcase participants of the the YoungArtistPro program and some o the the junior and intermediate group selections.
All other performance opportunities for Junior, Intermediate and Young Artist sessions to be announced at a later time.
MSSI DESCRIPTION
JUNIOR, INTERMEDIATE, YOUNG ARTIST:
Young string players of all levels are invited to join in an exciting and intensive week-long institute dedicated to sharpening their skills while creating music alongside peers and professionals, in a multi-faceted and stimulating environment facilitated by first-rate educators and performers.
Students will receive instruction in solo performance, large and small ensemble chamber music, theory, composition, improvisation, choral techniques* and visual art*!
*Junior program only
YOUNG ARTIST PRO:
The MSSI Young Artist Pro session is an inspiring one-week program held on the campus of Western University at the Don Wright Faculty of Music. With a focus on developing musicianship, advanced high school and university students are encouraged to apply.
Each student will receive daily private lessons. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to participate in daily masterclasses as well as daily rehearsals with a professional pianist.
Students will also have access to instruction in composition, offering an opportunity to develop their structural and harmonic understanding of musical scores. Personally-tailored exploration of cadenza writing or improvisation can also be explored during these breakout sessions with a professional composer.
All participants will have the opportunity to perform in a final recital Friday, July 29, 6 PM

For ALL participants of thus institute session:
We will host a farewell celebration for all participants at 4:30PM on Friday, July 29th, followed by our closing recital at 6PM. Food and beverages will be provided: parents are welcome to join!
